Basak Baykal

Basak Baykal was founded in Istanbul in 2021 by designer Basak Baykal herself. Inspired by her journey from Istanbul’s Grand Bazaar to London, Basak’s designs fuse years of heritage with a rich amalgamation of cultures, drawing inspiration from nature, literature, art and the timeless aesthetic of the Grand Bazaar. Using high-quality materials and ethically and sustainably sourced gemstones, each piece is meticulously crafted using traditional techniques passed down through generations by local artisans. These techniques, combined with modern design practices, result in unique pieces that are both works of art and symbols of a deeply rooted heritage. To further develop her brand, she moved her office from Istanbul to London while maintaining the aesthetic and atmosphere of the Grand Bazaar in her work and the city.
